Fulham are close to concluding a deal to sign the Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak with the Russian international currently undergoing a medical at Motspur Park.

Sky Sports News claims that the 28 year-old is ‘a series of physical tests’ prior to tomorrow’s deadline, whilst the Press Assoication reports that Pogrebnyak is on his way to London. Martin Jol has made the search for a striker his main priority in the transfer window and, having missed out on Argentine forward Maxi Lopez, appears to have got his man. It remains unclear if the proposed transfer would be a permanent arrangement or a lone deal, but with Pogrebnyak having only six months to run on his Stuttgart contract, Fulham could always sign him on a Bosman in the summer.

Pogrebnyak is an experienced Russian international – with eight goals in his thirty appearances for the national side – and has previously starred for Spartak Moscow and Zenit St Petersburg, averaging roughly a goal every three games.
