Fulham target Harry Maguire has ruled out a January move away from Sheffield United – insisting that he wants to reach the Premier League with the Blades.
The 18 year-old has been linked with a move to Fulham and Newcastle United in recent weeks after a string of superb performances as Danny Wilson’s side look to return to the Championship at the first attempt. The young centre back, who has firmly established himself at the heart of the Blades defence, remains fully committed to United’s promotion push.
I’m contracted to Sheffield United and I’m focused on trying to help us get promotion.
Like everyone else, I’d love to play in the Premier League, but in a few more years I want to do that here with Sheffield United.
I try and stay away from all the speculation and concentrate on my game. It’s nice in a way because it shows I must be doing something right. But I don’t really take any notice.
Maguire admits he has been influenced by Jordan Slew’s failure to nail down a starting place at Blackburn since his summer move from Sheffield United.
Jordan went there but he’s not really been playing much. I wish him all the best and he obviously felt it was right for him but what I feel is right for me is to be playing games.
