Fulham’s hopes of signing Maxi Lopez on loan seem to have been dashed after Catania insisted on attaching a fee to the loan deal.

Reports in Italy seemed to suggest that the former Barcelona forward would be a Fulham player by the weekend after being excited by the chance to play in the Premier League. But Catania wanted Fulham to pay as much as £500,000 for a six-month loan deal and Fulham’s offer has been rejected.

The Daily Mail quotes the Italian club’s sporting director Pietro Lo Manoco as saying:

We did not accept the offer of Fulham for Maxi Lopez because the English club would like to take it without spending a dollar.
