Marcello Trotta says his hat-trick against Exeter City on Boxing Day was the best moment of his career as it came in front of his family.
The Italian striker’s parents flew over to London to see him for Christmas and they picked the perfect time to see him play professional football for the first time. Trotta, on loan from Fulham, extended his remarkable scoring record to six goals in four Wycombe appearances with all three in the 3-1 win over Exeter that lifted the Chairboys out of the League One relegation zone.
The 19 year-old even had a special t-shirt – which read ‘for you Dad’ in Italian – for the occasion, which he revealed after his third goal.
It was simple thing to say ‘for you dad’ but it means a lot for me. It was my first hat-trick, my family were here and it lifted us out of the relegation zone so it is the best moment of my career.
As a striker you have to think positive and think you can score all the time so today was a good day. They are very proud because it was my first professional game in front of them so it couldn’t be better,
