Martin Jol was left bitterly disappointed by Fulham’s last gasp defeat at FC Twente in the Europa League tonight.

Fulham conceded an 89th minute goal to Twente substitute Marc Janko, which leaves them needing to beat Odense in the final round of group matches to be sure of a place in the knockout stages of the competition.

That’s always disappointing because in the second-half we did well defensively from their crosses. Normally we’re very good at defending crosses so that was harsh.

We put on Kasami for Dembele, who had asked for a substitution, then you hope to keep the ball in their half – but we couldn’t do that and they broke and scored. Duff has got a problem with his calf, he was out for two weeks then he came back but it’s the same problem. Dembele hopefully is fine. Damien could be a problem for Monday [against Liverpool] but I expect Mousa to play.

Jol was upset with Andy Johnson’s injury-time sending off after the striker received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away.

That was not what you want. We need all of our players and Andy Johnson is scoring goals.
