Peter Houston is keen to extend Lauri Dalla Valle’s loan spell at Dundee United until the end of the season.

The Fulham striker is due to return to London on January 16 but the United manager wants to discuss the possibility of extending the 20 year-old’s loan spell until May after he was impressed with his work ethic and performances during his initial time at Tannadice Park.

The Finnish under-21 international has scored three goals in 13 appearances for the Scottish side but has seen his first-team opportunities limited of late by the return to form of Jon Daly and Johnny Russell.

I haven’t spoken to the boy or Fulham. I’d like to keep him to the end of the season. He’s got a great attitude, he’s a wee bit unfortunate that Daly and Russell are starting to score goals, so he’s not getting a starting position just now.

I find it difficult to change guys that are scoring goals and he’s not really had a wee sniff. I still like him enough that I’d keep him until the end of the season

Dalla Valle missed Wednesday night’s draw at St. Mirren through illness but is expected to be available for Monday’s home game against Aberdeen.
