The Sun says that Fulham have identified Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard as a replacement for Bobby Zamora.
Maynard, who has scored 45 goals in 122 appearances for City, is out of contract in the summer and, although City have previously stated that he is not for sale, the Championship club could be tempted by a big offer. The paper reports that Martin Jol is considering tabling a £4m bid for the 25 year-old, who has scored seven goals in 22 appearances this season.
City are also actively trying to fight off Fulham’s interest in their Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah by offering him a new contract.
£4m for a player who is out of contract in the summer, and has no top-level experience? Not going to happen I don’t think. Might try to bid a combined £5m for the both of them though.
Saw quite a few Bristol City games last season when I was living there. Maynard is decent – would be good to have in the squad as an alternative to AJ. Wasn’t overly convinced by Adomah – he’s quick, but I thought his touch was particularly poor. My City-supporting mates love him though, it appears that he’s a fan’s favourite.
Also, take a look at this. Seems City fans haven’t been too impressed with Maynard this season.
