Tucked away at the bottom of a BBC story about the possibility of Arsenal switching their Boxing Day game against Wolves to December 27th to counter the Tube strike, is a sentence suggested that Fulham’s local derby at Chelsea could also be rearranged owing to the industrial action.

A decision is likely in the next couple of days – and Chelsea are currently monitoring the situation.

UPDATE: Chelsea have issued the following statement:

Chelsea Football Club would like to make clear that we are assessing the situation regarding our Premier League fixture with Fulham at Stamford Bridge on December 26.

At present, a proposed industrial strike on London Underground, combined with the lack of national rail services in operation could make reaching the stadium difficult both for Chelsea and Fulham supporters, as well as matchday staff and employees, all of whose safety and wellbeing remains our primary concern.

We will continue to consult with London Transport, the Metropolitan Police and all relevant local authorities, and any further decisions or developments will be made public first through Chelseafc.com.
