Fulham youngster Alex Smith is currently having a trial with local rivals QPR.

The 20 year-old left back, whose contract expires at the end of this season, came through Fulham’s Academy system and played every game as the Under-18 side reached the Academy league final last season. He has yet to make a first team appearance for the club and has his path blocked by John Arne Riise and the emergence of Matthew Briggs.

Smith played for Rangers’ reserve side in a friendly against Reading yesterday afternoon and Neil Warnock will continue to run the rule over the young full-back, who led Fulham’s under-18 side to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup in 2009/10.
