Harry Redknapp might have to watch Tottenham’s London derby at Fulham from the Craven Cottage directors box as he recovers from heart surgery.
The 64 year-old remains keen to attend Sunday’s fixture after having two stents inserted to unblock his coronary arteries during an operation yesterday afternoon, but Tottenham are keen not to rush their manager back to work. In Redknapp’s absence, Kevin Bond and Joe Jordan will take charge of tonight’s Europa League tie against Rubin Kazan. A statement issued by Spurs yesterday revealed that Redknapp was ‘in excellent spirits’ after his operation, but chairman Daniel Levy insists he will only return to the dugout when he’s ready:
We are delighted the operation went so smoothly and successfully. Knowing Harry he will want to rush back, but it’s important that he only does so when he has recovered properly.
