Martin Jol declared himself happy with a point after Fulham continued their good run of run away from home with a fine display at Arsenal yesterday afternoon.

The Whites took the lead through a Thomas Vermaelen own goal and looked set to hold out for their first ever win at Arsenal only for the Belgian defender to pop up with a headed equaliser eight minutes from time.

An away game against Arsenal is always a tough game and I think a draw is a satisfying result for us. I said to my boys before the game I felt that we could do something today. Opportunities will always come and that happened today.

You have to work hard against Arsenal because they’ve got a winning mentality. When you look at their form over the last five or six weeks it’s a pleasing result for us.

In the first half it was 50/50 possession and we had seven attempts on goal which says it all. In the second half if we’d scored that second goal it would have helped but Bobby was offside. We’ve had reasonable results away from home recently against Wigan, Sunderland and now Arsenal.
