Fulham are planning a move for Newcastle full-back Danny Simpson as the right back looks likely to turn down a new contract with the Magpies.

According to the People, The 24 year-old is apparently dismayed that the five-year contract offered to him by Newcastle will still leave him as one of the current squad’s lowest earners. The former Manchester United defender, who has stalled for some time on signing an extension to his present deal – which has 18 months to run – has made 15 appearances for Alan Pardew’s side this season, scoring in their League Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.

Fulham, who are searching for cover at right back after a long-term injury to Zdenek Grygera, will likely be joined in the race for Simpson’s signature by QPR and West Ham. The Hammers have been admirers of the attacking full-back for some time whilst Joey Barton has apparently been encouraged Rangers boss Neil Warnock to make a concrete offer for Simpson.
