Fulham manager Martin Jol has backed Bobby Zamora to respond positively to his miss against Everton.

Zamora produced a howler when the score was still 1-1 in his club’s eventual 3-1 defeat to the Toffees at Craven Cottage last weekend.

But Jol does not think the striker, who was included in Fabio Capello’s England squad for the final Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro, will be haunted by missing the sitter.

“He knows it is probably not the first time,” said Jol ahead of Saturday’s trip to Wigan. “He is a striker, so he will miss chances in the future. Anybody else up front will miss chances, and even from midfield. So I couldn’t see any difference (in Zamora).”
