Clint Dempsey has urged Andy Johnson to agree a new deal to stay at Fulham.

The former Crystal Palace and Everton striker is out of contract at the end of this season and is currently in negotiations with the club about a contract extension. Dempsey hopes Johnson decides to stay at the Cottage, especially as he’s in the middle of a hot goalscoring streak, which included a hat-trick in the 6-0 defeat of QPR last Sunday.

That’s not for me to make that decision. But AJ’s a goalscorer and he’s good to have around, and hopefully that will be the case for some time to come.

He also likes to have a laugh and I respect him for the fact he’s had some tough injuries and fought back from them.
