A very interesting article on Bryan Ruiz, which touches on our new signing’s modest side.
Anyone who doubts the Costa Rican’s ability after Stamford Bridge should think again. He played some terrific passes, one of which – the crossfield ball to Stephen Kelly which set up Steve Sidwell’s late chance – came at the end of extra time when he was reduced to playing at a walking pace by a groin problem and fatigue. As a wise man once said, keep the faith.
He played two exquisite through balls in the first half, one along the ground with the outside of his boot and one a deft chip over the defence.
If our strikers can put the chances he creates away, we will be sorted.
I agree, he was exhausted at the end but is passing was brilliant.. the back heel to play Frei in as well … the pass into Sa was exceptional…. shame Sa didnt finish it… Once he gets up to speed he’ll add another great dimension!
Anyone who says he is usless or not good enough needs a kick to the head. He is a fantastic player and is starting to already show his class – something most foreign players fail to do in the few months or first season playing for a new club in the EPL (first time).
Also, agree with with someone else here… Swarz should have had man of the match and got a higher rating, he did superb. My only groan is that Dembele needs to up his game or piss off. He has had time to establish himself in his position of choice but doesn’t seem to know his arse from his elbow. People moan about the fact is being played out of position but the manager doesn’t know what position due to the fact he has shone in any of them.
His best position was floating just between the midfield and the strikers and banging balls in from the edge of the box. He was excellent at that. He needs to sort it out or Jol needs to sell him whilst he still has some saleabilty left in him. Either that or Jol needs to take him aside with BZ, Ruiz and Sa and show him how to play up-front football at the highest level.
What I mean by this, is this… Defoe went through a period where he couldn’t score and so Les Ferdinand who coaches the strikers said this to him. ‘All you have to concentrate on is just hitting the target, and hitting it hard and fast. As long as you hit it between the posts you will hit the target everytime and 7-10 times the ball will go in’. Well Defoe practised everyday on this and still does to this day – his strike rate to scoring rate shot through the roof, hence was he was kept at Spurs and not sold…
So why don’t Fulham do this with Dembele and get him firing on all cylnders again. Just a thought…
