Not bad eh! That second half we looked magnificent, is this the 44 minutes to turn around Jol’s start?
Schwarzer – 7, came well for crosses and made a couple of very good saves from Clichy then Dzeko. Made another very good save too where someone, I think it was Tevez, cut in from the right and shot, Schwarzer made a save you’d expect him to make but what he caught it superbly, with two City players ready to tap it in.
Kelly – 7, is the right back spot now his to lose? To be fair he’s never looked out of place, the criticism of him always seemed to be harsh and unfair, especially considering he played in THOSE games against Basel and Juventus. Very good performance.
Baird – 7, had to deal with Aguero’s tricky movement but on the whole did well. Aguero was offside for his first so do you blame Baird? His passing and confidence to come forward out of defence is really a boon for us and offers us something that Hughes doesn’t necessarily (although I would stick with him anyway).
Hangeland – 6.5, again dealt with the movement well. Didn’t really see him make too many long passes which I liked actually, his radar hasn’t been great this season especially with the constant over hit passes to Riise. Played it simple. Great block from Tevez too!
Riise – 6, he didn’t really do too much in an attacking sense but kept Nasri and Silva in check well.
Murphy – 7, struggled first half but second half moved and passed the ball well when City stopped pressing as much. Seemed to play deeper in the first half off the ball as the first 1 of a 4-1-4-1 but he kind of struggled there I thought. We’ll let the slight deflection slide for his goal.
Sidwell – 8, I actually thought he had a fantastic game. Made a load of tackles, moved around the pitch, passed the ball accurately and kept momentum.
Duff – 5.5, hmmm, is this the beginning of the end? Seems as if age is catching up to him all of a sudden. Crossing was poor and didn’t beat a man and this has happened a few times recently now. Tries so hard though and defends brilliantly, perhaps a bench option?
Dempsey – 7.5, is it just me or is he suddenly demonstrating agility and turning and close control alot more this season? He seems to have changed the way he plays a bit. For the better though, now in the build up play he is more difficult to control for the opposition. Lovely assist for Zamora’s goal too and got unlucky with a header. AND HE SHOOTS WHEN IN SPACE!!
Dembele, 7.5, take note, when you have a yard strike at goal because as we saw from Hart’s save you have a shot on you. Full of dribbling, tricks and flicks today, caused so much trouble for their defence and his best game in the second half for us today I think. He has always had the ability to drift past players effortlessly but he did it with purpose, and made probing passes with the space he made for other players. Nice.
Zamora – 8, struggled first half with the poor service but as well as the emphatic finish and neat assist his play in the second half was really impressive I thought, his lay offs were very good and he worked so hard again.
Kasami – 7, thought he struggled with some things but unlike Duff offered a noticable threat out wide, putting in crosses (and he does have a wicked cross with both feet) and beating his man. His physical attributes shouldnt go unmentioned, as well as having skill and creativity he is quick and strong. And only 19. Could be a real player. Duff should feel under threat.
Ruiz – N/A, only came on for five minutes which I didn’t really understand for someone who admits that he isnt quite up to pace to the league. Seemed bright though.
