Chris Baird feels Fulham can use the belief generated by today’s remarkable comeback against Manchester City to climb the Premier League table.

Martin Jol’s side started the day at the foot of the table, but picked up a precious point after coming back from 2-2 down to end City’s 100 per cent to the season. Fulham might not have yet recorded a league win, but Baird admitted today’s result felt like a victory.

It did feel like a win. Being 2-0 down against Manchester City, it’s always going to be a tough call, but we dug deep in the second half and were much much better. We knew we had to be and we’re delighted with the point. I think we deserved what we got out of the game.

Hopefully this result will give us a boost, and if we show the qualities we showed today, we’ll climb that table.

Baird, who played at centre back for the second game in succession after Aaron Hughes was ruled out with a groin injury, was delighted with Fulham’s second half performance and their fitness was impressive after playing against FC Twente on Thursday night.

I don’t know where all that energy came from but we had to do something there after what we showed in the first half. That was the most important thing.

We showed the quality that we have got and thankfully we did get a point out of it and we could even have gone on to win it.
