The BBC believe that Fulham have entered the race to sign the Freiburg striker Papiss Demba Cisse.

The German side have received three offers from unnamed clubs for Cisse, 26, who says he wants to leave the club. The Senegal international scored 22 league goals in 32 appearances finishing behind only Bayern Munich’s Mario Gomez in the Bundesliga scoring charts. Cisse has scored 32 goals in 51 matches since signing for Freiburg from Metz for £1.3m in December 2009.

Cisse has told a German radio station that he sees his future as being away from the Badenova-Stadion:

I really want to try playing at a different level. I want to leave. I hope that this happens before 31 August.

Several other English clubs, including Sunderland and Blackburn Rovers, are said to rumoured to be interested in signing Cisse, who scored his fourth goal of the new Bundesliga season against Werder Bremen on Saturday. Freiburg are determined to drive a high bargain, however, and with the striker’s contract running until 2014, are likely to hold out for more than £12m.
