David Stockdale is poised to join Leeds on a season-long loan.

The Daily Mirror reports that Martin Jol is happy to allow the 25-year-old to join his hometown club after completing the signing of Hungarian goalkeeper Csaba Somogyi on a free transfer. Jol has decided to retain Australian veteran Mark Schwarzer as Fulham’s number one but wants to loan Stockdale out so he can continue his impressive development, which has seen Fabio Capello include him in two England squads.

Jol has rebuffed an enquiry from newly-promoted Swansea as he sees Stockdale as the natural successor to 38 year-old Schwarzer at Craven Cottage. A move to another Premier League club on loan is out of the question as too as top flight rules do not allow a 24-hour recall clause. Stockdale has made thirteen appearances, including eight in the Premier League, since signing for Fulham in a £600,000 deal from Darlington in June 2008.
