As we reported earlierCsaba Somogyi has signed a one-year contract with Fulham.

The 26 year-old goalkeeper has completed a move from the Hungarian Second Division side Rakospalotai EAC after a successful trial at Motspur Park. Martin Jol had also taken Somogyi on trial at Ajax but a possible transfer to the Dutch side was scuppered when Jol resigned as Ajax manager last December.

Somogyi, who is expected to be back-up for Mark Schwarzer, is Jol’s first signing as Fulham manager. The goalkeeper is quoted as saying:

I arrived home in Hungary on Thursday evening and everything had gone well in England so I signed a one-year long contract with Fulham.

I attended two training sessions during my eight days at the club and on the last two days I underwent a medical, and I’m happy to say that I passed it.

I’ll go back on Sunday and continue the pre-season with my new team.
