Martin Jol has lauded new signing Pajtim Kasami as ‘a great talent’ and is planning to give the young midfielder his Fulham debut in tomorrow night’s Europa League tie in Croatia.
The 19 year-old signed a four-year contract after completing his transfer from Palermo on Monday and Jol insists that English football fans won’t properly appreciate his potential. Kasami broke into the Palermo side last season, impressing a host of leading European clubs and Jol was clearly delighted to secure his signature.
Not everybody in England will know [how highly thought of he he is]. He is a great talent and there were a few other clubs – big clubs as well – after him. It was nice to snatch him from other clubs’ grasp.
He is 19 but, on the other hand, he played more than 20 matches for Palermo in Serie A. He was probably the youngest player there that played so many games so I think he can play in our team now. He will play a big part this season
If Fulham can register Kasami as an additional player in accordance with UEFA regulations, Jol wants to give him another taste of Europa League action against RNK Split tomorrow. The Swiss midfielder made six appearances in the competition with Palermo last season.
He has travelled. There is a little thing with the list that you can add one player so hopefully we can do that tonight.
If not, he will not be involved. If he can do, he will be involved.
