After a summer of Leeds and Swansea battling for David Stockdale’s signature a second Championship club have entered the race for the talented young keeper. Ipswich, who already have Martin Fulop and Arran Lee-Barret as potential number ones, are keen to improve the quality of their squad for a promotion squad and with such quality available it is not suprising they are interested. It seems however that whereever Stockdale does go, it won’t be in the Premier League as Jol explains:

“We are talking to a few clubs because the conditions need to be finalised.

“We want to recall him if necessary because if something happens with Mark [Schwarzer] we need a back-up.”

It’s disappointing to see him miss out on a move to the Premier League because he’s clearly capable enough but the most important thing for him is a full season and whether its Leeds, Ipswich or somewhere else a loan move is in everyone’s best interests.
