Clint Dempsey has admitted he was ‘surprised‘ after US national team manager Bob Bradley was sacked last night.
U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati announced that ‘now was the right time for us to make a change’, ending Bradley’s five-year spell in charge of the American national side. Bradley had won the 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup and shocked Spain on the way to the final of the 2009 Confederations Cup, before taking the US to the last sixteen of the last World Cup. Under Bradley, Dempsey became a firmly established member of the national team and the Fulham midfielder admitted he was saddened by the turn of the events:
I’m sad to see him go. I wish him the best in the future. He’s a good coach and I know he’ll do well.
