Martin Jol has only been in charge for a month and a half but one player that seems to really have him excited is 19 year old defender Matty Briggs. The left back, who made his debut as a 16 year old in 2007 and became the youngest ever Premier League player in doing so, has been waiting patiently for a first team opportunity but with Salcido set to leave it seems as if he’ll play an important role as Riise’s back up this season:

“He is not like a talented boy. For me he is already there.

“I think he’s a good part of our squad and that is why I don’t want to put him on loan somewhere. I want to keep him.

“I have seen him over the last couple of weeks and I think he could be an exciting player.”

The first Fulham first team Academy graduate since Sean Davis perhaps? Looks like it.
