The Daily Mail splashes with Danny Murphy’s supposedly serious interest in replacing Mark Hughes.

The Fulham captain is clearly an articulate footballer who thinks deeply about the game and is already a consummate media performer. He’s talked about becoming a coach when he retires and is known to offer his tactical thoughts to the management already, but it’s surely too soon for him to contemplate taking over the job. The article’s barely sourced, so I’m tempted to discount it as paper talk. Besides, don’t we still need him to keep the Fulham midfield ticking?

If I was betting man, I’d be firmly on Martin Jol at the moment.
