Clint Dempsey has been voted Fulham’s player of the season by the club’s supporters.

The American midfielder enjoyed his best season in England since he joined Fulham from the New England Revolution in January 2007. Dempsey scored 13 goals, all but one of them in the league, and in the process became Fulham’s leading Premier League goalscorer. He continues a busy year by representing his country in a friendly against Spain this weekend and then in the Gold Cup later in the summer.

My vote went to Chris Baird, who has firmly established himself as the first-choice right back, and had a terrific season. I felt Baird might also have been in with a shout of goal of the season – for either of his timely goals at Stoke last Christmas – but that award went to Moussa Dembele for his brilliant individual goal against Tottenham in the FA Cup.
