A Fulham move for Joe Cole has been rumoured on Liverpool messageboards for the best part of a week and the Sunday Mirror has a few paragraphs on a potential loan move for the England international.
Cole’s Bosman switch to Liverpool from Chelsea this time last year was supposed to one of the steals of the summer, but things haven’t worked out for him on Merseyside. Sent off on his debut, Cole endured an injury-ravaged season and is not deemed to be part of Kenny Dalglish’s future plans. He has not been officially transfer-listed but Liverpool are open to offers, especially after completing the signing of Sunderland’s Jordan Henderson.
The Mirror’s scribes reckon that a loan deal would be most likely, although Cole’s wages would most probably have to be met by his parent club given Fulham’s tight wage-structure. Bringing in Cole, even on a temporary basis, would be a real statement of intent by new manager Martin Jol, but would probably prompt a change in formation to accommodate him. Exciting as it may be, I think this one’s still very much a long shot.
Why don’t you just buy him for £3million, if even that. Swap him for Dempsey and that will cover your wage bill! I think he would be a good player for Fulham, just not what LFC need right now, in terms of how we play. Good luck to wherever he goes!
Liverpool are gonna want to sell him, he’s only 29 and with the right team is still class, they’ll want at least £5mill and there will be lots of clubs interested. One injury ravaged season and people forget how good he is and how experieced. I’d be suprised if Arsenal don’t go in for him, they’re despirate for leaders on the pitch, it would also resurect his international career
why would liverpool loan him and pay his wages fulham can have him and give him a big signing on fee he is on £90k plus 45k everytime he plays so don’t play him 4.5m a yr fulham give him 5m signing fee and 50k per wk
The wages are probably beyond Fulham (they were beyond Tottenham), but if you ended up getting him I think he could be an amazing signing.
Don’t see this happening, he doesn’t fit into our wage structure and MAF wont wreck the club for one player.
