Fulham have turned down a bid from Sampdoria for Zoltan Gera, according to a Sky Sports News report.

The Hungarian international appears destined to leave Craven Cottage having expressed his disappointment at a lack of first-team opportunities under Mark Hughes with his contract due to expire at the end of the current campaign. Hughes had expressed hope that he might be able to entice the former West Brom midfielder to remain in SW6, but the player’s agent suggested last week he was hopeful of securing a move away before the end of the transfer window.

Sampdoria’s initial offer for Gera was turned down flat by Fulham, who would like to keep Gera in their squad for the remainder of the season, and it remains to be seen whether the Serie A side will return with another bid.
