Fulham have opened talks with captain Danny Murphy over a one-year contract extension at Craven Cottage.
The former Liverpool midfielder is approaching 150 appearances for the Whites, but his current deal is due to expire in the summer.
However, the club have moved to quash speculation about the 33-year-old’s future.
Boss Mark Hughes said: “We’ve started discussions with Danny and his people.
“He’s been fantastic since I came to the club and has been a positive influence on and off the pitch.
“Technically he drives the team, he’s got good awareness and is a good captain.
