Fulham manager Mark Hughes has warned any potential suitors they would be wasting their time if they pursue the signing of Damien Duff.
The Republic of Ireland international was linked with a return to Blackburn earlier this month but Hughes quickly dismissed any chance of that occurring. The Cottagers chief admits he did not even discuss the situation with Rovers and he hopes they have now got the message.
Hughes is determined to keep all his main players this month and feels Fulham can push on up the Premier League table over the next few weeks. They have already started to pull clear of the relegation battle since the turn of the year and continued their fine form with a 2-0 victory over Stoke on Saturday.
Hughes told The Sun: “I think Blackburn were trying to get in touch with me two or three weeks ago to see if there was any possibility of getting Damien but I didn’t even take the call. So that tells you my answer.
All we have needed is to get key players back. We were playing reasonably well, we all felt that, but we weren’t getting any results. It wasn’t good enough in those terms, we just needed a cutting edge. In recent matches we’ve been able to do that.”
