Fulham midfielder Simon Davies reckons Fulham should pull out the stops in their bid to hang on to Mark Schwarzer.

In fact, talks meant to mollify the 37-year-old keeper are ‘a no brainer’ as far as the midfielder is concerned.

Davies has just signed a new deal keeping him at Craven Cottage until 2013 – but his team-mate is still silently simmering over a prospective switch to Arsenal in the summer that went down the toilet.

Schwarzer wasn’t allowed to leave for the £2.5million offered by the Gunners – and the prospect of him leaving for Serie A or La Liga at the end of his contract next July is fetching short odds.

But Davies knows just how much the World Cup keeper has brought to Fulham in the last three years and is hoping the powers-that-be can make him think again.

He said: “I’m sure they’re speaking to Mark.

“There’s no doubting his ability and what he’s done for the club. It’s a no brainer about trying to keep him, and I hope he stays.”
