I missed this one yesterday – dashing around trying to complete tasks before the Bank Holiday weekend – but it’s really pleasing to see Marcello Trotta put pen to paper on a contract extension.

The 17-year-old Italian striker has real ability, demonstrating not only his strength and power but a knack of scoring goals with Fulham’s Under-18s last season, and made his mark during Fulham’s run to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup last season. Trotta’s well known in youth circles having made the move from Napoli to Manchester City as a 15-year-old and definitely has all the attributes to make it at the highest level of English football. The key now will be continuing his development under Billy McKinlay and catching the eye of new manager Mark Hughes.
