A couple of things I’ve spotted in the papers and interweb this today:

Our new Belgian arrival started well last week by making all the right noises before he officially signed on the dotted line yesterday afternoon. “I want to go to a top league and a stable club where I get a good feeling. Also a club where I will play” He told the local paper Noord-Hollands Dagblad. Although he then seems to undo some of this by pretty much saying he’s move to the Cottage may have a little more to do with putting himself in a bigger shop window than he was in previously. “And as I am just 23, I still have a number of years to make a move to a bigger club.”

Now that may be the case, but at least sign with us before you start thinking about moving on again, or have you paid a quick visit to Norf London and the Harry Redknapp school of tapping up/transfers?

A strange, and I suspect wholly made up, transfer speculation today about the Schwarzer deal. Apparently Sparky has demanded  £4m Cash plus Carlos Vela from Arsenal in exchange for the keeper. Vela, who seems to be injured a lot yet has still played 50 times for the Gunners and knocked in a goal against us at the Emirates last season. Having just signed one forward who seems quite similar to Vela I just don’t see this move happening, and Goal.com have been pretty wild with their stories recently. Add to the fact that apparently they turned down a move by Seville for him this summer and he seems to have moved up the pecking order at Arsenal too, now being the proud holder of the number 11 shirt.

And finally spot on work printed in the Independent today. Finally some much needed experience added to the Pottery clubs side.

Stoke City have signed Jon Walters for an initial £2.75m on a three-year contract from Ipswich Town. The fee may rise to £3.25m depending on appearances by the 126-year-old former Blackburn and Bolton striker.’
