Fulham and England World Cup hero George Cohen was taken to hospital after collapsing at a charity bash.

Shocked guests watched in horror as the 1966 star passed out moments after arriving.

George, 70, who has survived bowel cancer three times, was taken to hospital by ambulance and kept in overnight.

Yesterday his agent Andrew Morris said: “George was taken ill on Friday. It’s happened before when he hasn’t eaten enough and has been on his feet all day.

“He was kept in hospital and is now recovering at home. He is fine.”

The former full-back attended the dinner in Sidbury, Worcs, after a champagne reception at Worcester Cathedral.

George, who lives in Crowborough, East Sussex, missed out on opening a sporting heroes’ exhibition in Worcester on Saturday.
