Apparently we have had a bid for Carlton Cole turned down by West Ham as it did not reach their 15m estimation. I’m sorry, but if Zamora is worth 8m then so is Cole. I’m not sure how I’d feel about this because he is a very similar player to Zamora. However, that would mean that we have proper back up for him if Zamora gets injured. I’m not sure if they could play up front together but you never know I suppose. Not a bad deal then if it works out.
Robert Koren is another player who we are interested in. The Former West Brom midfielder was surprisingly let go of his club on Monday so would come in on a free. From what I can remember of him, he is a very good player and would certainly add some imagination to our midfield.
The link is also still there with Freddy Piquionne and apparently we are leading the race to sign him. We would get him cheap so I don’t see any problem with having him there to come off the bench.
No word yet on whether we are keeping our loan players Nicky Shorey and Stefano Okaka.
If we’re in for Piquionne why on earth would we lash out a hefty £15M on Carlton Cole? Unecessary imho. Koren, although a bit lightweight would be a sound addition & I gather we’ve made a bid for Shorey, although it doesn’t appear that we’re making the Okaka deal permanent. Shame this, because I thought the lad shows promise with some nice touches.
