Mark Schwarzer professed himself very pleased with a good week’s work after Fulham followed up their fine win in Wolfsburg with a point at Anfield.

You might have expected the Whites to be a little off-the-pace after their European exertions in Germany on Thursday night but, although on the defensive for much of yesterday afternoon’s clash, Roy Hodgson’s side hung on for a creditable point. Schwarzer, who made a couple of fine saves, rates the Wolfsburg performance as one of Fulham’s best in recent years.

I thought that the away performance in Wolfsburg was one of the best since I have been at the club. We were professional and should have won the game by more than one goal. We wanted to try and back that up and continue the momentum today.

The Australian goalkeeper felt Fulham were ‘reasonably comfortable’ against a Liverpool side that looked rather feeble up front without Fernando Torres.

Liverpool was a massive game for us and to come to Anfield and get a point on the back of Europe was a great result for us. We knew that it would be tough, but it was a reasonably comfortable backs to the wall, we were not overpowered and we dealt with things well.

They played in midweek too, but they are a lot more used to playing in Europe and it is still a learning curve for us.
