Fulham will face German opposition again in the last four of the Europa League after Hamburg brushed aside a spirited Standard Liege challenge with a 3-1 in Belgium this evening.

The Bundesliga side lead 2-1 from the first leg and were indebted to Croatian midfielder Mladen Petric who scored a brilliant brace to ensure their progress. Petric’s first arrived on 19 minutes when he headed in a fine cross from Ze Roberto, although Igor De Camargo did briefly revive Belgian hopes with a close range header.

Petric tilted the balance of the tie back towards Hamburg with a breathtaking bicycle kick ten minutes before the break and substitute Guerrero added a more convicning gloss to the scoreline with an injury-time third for the visitors.

Fulham will travel to Hamburg for the first leg of the semi-final on April 22, with the return game a week later at Craven Cottage.
