Regular readers will now by know that we like our tactics here at HammyEnd. We’ve featured plenty of discussion about why Fulham’s midfielders play on the wrong side since Clint Dempsey and Damien Duff first experimented with the ploy earlier this season (most recently here).
The always interesting Jonathan Wilson has added some of his own thoughts to the debate today and discusses Duff. It’s well worth reading the whole thing as in sets this tactical innovation in a historical context and links in the quite brilliant Leo Messi as well.
