I’d be delighted if the excellent Nicky Shorey decided to stay at Fulham. This might seem a bit harsh on Paul Konchesky, but Shorey’s presence has been missed during our last two defeats.
At the moment I am not too sure what will happen, but I’m not in the picture at Villa so I do have to think about that. I’m enjoying my time here and it will definitely be something that I consider when the time comes.
It’s a strange situation really, and in a lot of ways it’s worse than being injured. When a player misses games through injury it’s an enforced absence, but when you are fit and ready to play but still not getting a look in it’s hard to take. It was a frustrating time and hopefully one I won’t experience again.
Was an unused substitute against ManCity, and wasn’t even on the bench for the game against Spurs. Would very much like him to stay, but don’t think he will unless he’s the number 1 choice. He could quite easily get first team football at several Premiership teams, or indeed one of the promoted sides (especially Nottingham Forest if they come up).
I’d hate it if Roy picked Konchesky for the rest of the season and Shorey slipped through our grasp. We looked really dangerous down the left with him in the team. With the European game coming up on Thursday, I hope to see Nicky’s name on the teamsheet tomorrow.
Same here. I was also thinking earlier that the Hull game is ideal for Jonathan Greening to play, and see from your preview that you’re of a similar opinion. Perhaps him and Shorey can link up on the left hand side? Think it depends on whether or not Baird is rested with Thursday in mind, or if Roy deploys him as a RB. Could be a chance for Dikagcoi too.
I’d play JG in the middle to be honest, give some of the first-choice central midfielders a rest. Whilst Greening can play out on the left, we lose a bit of dynamism out there because he’s much more workmanlike and I think we’ll need to dominate central midfield and break quickly to have success at Hull tomorrow.
