Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has won the Premier League’s player of the month award after keeping five clean sheets in February.

The experienced Australian number one was in sensational form as Roy Hodgson’s side took eleven points from fifteen last month – and was only beaten by a Chris Baird own goal.

A surprised Schwarzer said:

“I’m still a little bit shocked to have won the award. I think it’s been a tremendous achievement from everybody at the club over the last five to six weeks. No one could have imagined it would have gone so well over that period of time and I think any number of players in the team could have won the award. I think we’ve defended very well and we’ve gone back to how we defended consistently well last season. In February we were outstanding all over the field from front to back and that’s what has been the key.”
