Danny Murphy says that if Paul Konchesky can get over his ankle injury then Fabio Capello should hand the Fulham left back a spot in his England squad.
The Cottagers’ captain reckons that the former Charlton left back, capped twice previously for his country, is not far behind Ashley Cole in terms of ability. It’s a ringing endorsement.
I think Ashley Cole is the best left-back in the world, but, if he’s not fit, I don’t see a better left-back than Konchesky. I’ve played a couple of years now with Konch and I was with him at Charlton.
If he can get over this injury, and I think he’s close, get himself fit and flying, there’s no-one better. He’s a great defender, quick, good on one-on-ones and a really good passer of the ball.
