I don’t know whether John Pantsil knows something Roy Hodgson doesn’t but the Fulham manager seems to be painting a much bleaker picture than his full back about the length of the Ghanaian’s injury lay-off.

Earlier today, reports from his native Ghana quoted Pantsil as saying that he expects to be back in action within six weeks. Hodgson seems to be suggesting that he could be missing for about three months. Anybody want to fill in the gaps?

We know from the scan that John has damaged his posterior cruciate ligament so he has a serious injury. There’s no hope for me that the medical staff are going to phone me and say it’s not as bad as we thought it would be, it’s only going to be a couple of weeks. What they are talking about is the difference between 10 and maybe 18 weeks so we will have to do without Pantsil for a long time.

Those quotes rather contradict what Pantsil said earlier today.

It looked bad and I feared for the worst so to be told I am out for six weeks puts my mind at rest now. I will hit the treatment room straight away and return fully fit and ready to contribute to the final weeks of the season.
