Dickson Etuhu says he’s delighted to be back in international action at the African Nations Cup having been overlooked by Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu over the last 18 months.

The Fulham midfielder earned a recall to the Super Eagles squad for the tournament and hopes to win a first-team place. His last appearance for Nigeria was at the 2008 African Nations Cup in Ghana.

I am very happy to be here with the Super Eagles for the 2010 African Cup of Nations. I am looking forward to the Nations Cup with excitement. I cannot wait for it to start because I believe we are going to do well, to show Nigerians how good we are and how much better we can be.

When I arrived at the team’s camp, I was well received. Everybody welcomed me. That alone lifted my spirit more, and, honestly speaking, I was very happy.

I am looking forward to getting a starting team shirt. I am working really hard for that, to fight for my place in the team.
