Bobby Zamora will postpone plans to play for Trinidad & Tobago in the hope of being called up by England boss Fabio Capello.

The Fulham striker was due to make his debut for the Soca Warriors, for whom he qualifies through his father, earlier in the season but couldn’t travel for their World Cup qualifiers having picked up an injury. His recent run of form has seen many pundits suggest he could be a plausible alternative to Emile Heskey as England’s target man at the World Cup and Zamora is now ready to hold out and see whether Capello gives him a chance.
