Mark Schwarzer says that, provided he maintains his recent fine form, there’s no reason why Bobby Zamora shouldn’t force his way into Fabio Capello’s World Cup plans.

The Fulham striker was superb in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of Manchester United, firing home the crucial second goal just after the break, his fifth in four games. Schwarzer, who will be heading to South Africa with Australia, backs the growing chorus suggesting that Zamora could be an option for England up front.

Bobby’s had a bit of stick from the fans but who hasn’t had stick on the internet? What matters is the work Bobby has done for us. That’s been very under-rated and for the past three or four months he has been superb.

He holds the ball up and throws himself about but the difference now is that he has added a few goals. That breeds more confidence, so he is really bounding around the place.

Bobby was exceptional against United and he took real control of the game. If he keeps playing like this it will be difficult not to take a look at him for England.

He is fantastic for us. There’s no reason if he continues with this form why he won’t knock on the door for an England selection.
