The briefest of lines in the Metro suggests that Portsmouth might be keen on taking Bobby Zamora to Fratton Park.

While Avram Grant might have Bobby on his radar, persuading Roy Hodgson to part with the Fulham striker might be difficult. Though the Whites accepted a £5m bid from Hull in the summer, Hodgson made it clear to Zamora that he was still in his plans and that might have been one of the reasons why Bobby turned his back on a move to the KC. It would take a similar fee to make Fulham consider accepting a bid and, with the shortage of striking options at the club at the moment, they might not be minded to do so now.

Bobby’s still got his critics but he’s been much improved this season. If we let him go in January, we’ll be worse off in mid-season than we were back in the summer – and without a target man to help dig us out of a hole. I’d be very surprised if Roy let this one happen.
