Fulham full back John Pantsil has been named Ghana’s footballer of the year.

The Black Stars defender beat fellow internationals Sulley Muntari of Inter and Petrojet’s Eric Bekoe to lift the award presented by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana.

The likeable defender has made a huge impact since arriving at Craven Cottage from West Ham with Bobby Zamora, quickly proving the doubters wrong and establishing himself as Roy Hodgson’s first choice right back. As Lydia wrote earlier today, he’s forged a firm bond with the Fulham faithful and thoroughly deserves his award.
