You should trust tribalfootball as far you might be able to hurl your computer. I would be majorly surprised if Newcastle sold Andy Carroll, who looked a little raw in his run in the first team towards the end of last season, and I’m equally surprised that he’s named as a Fulham target.
It’s clear that Roy Hodgson will be looking for reinforcements in the striking department during the transfer window but I’ve never seen anything concrete (or even tabloid) linking us with the young Geordie. While the Mirror suggests Newcastle are ready to take a punt on Jordan Rhodes, I think it’s pretty unlikely Carroll will end up at the Cottage.
Young Andy has come on in leaps and bounds this year. He has become a major weapon in the Championship and for England U21’s – the battering that he gave Sheff United lunatic Chris Morgan was impressive for a young lad. He is tremendous in the area up front and back from set pieces and will become one of the best headerers I’ve ever seen as he phyically matures. I’d be sad to see him go
As a Newcastle fan who has watched Carroll in almost all of his games this season i can say for certain that big things lie ahead for this young geordie! At his age he is streets ahead of where Peter Crouch was at that stage of his career and boy can the young lad play abit. Strong, robust and an ever improving touch; with a rocket of a left foot shot.
Yes he is playing in the championship; but i feel a season in this lower division as a first choice striker will be more worthwhile than if we were still in the PL and he was a bit part player coming on here and there.
Under Mike Ashley anything is possible; however with young andy earning around a third of what the likes of Alan Smith, Joey Barton, Collocini, Kevin nolan, Nicky butt, Geremi etc there will be a few in line ahead of him before he is sold.
My final point on this subject (and i mean no disrespect here) is that the likes of West Ham (who andy has been linked with alot in the press) are facing a struggle to stay in the PL this season. After last year i would say that no-one is safe in that division (especially if carlton cole leaves in january). I cannot see any of our players leaving a side which at this stage of the season is looing a cert to be playing PL football again next year to join teams who may be trading places with us agian come May/June.
He’s a Geordie, there’s not chance he’ll leave – he’s living his dream playing for his boyhood club, which thankfully still means something in the North East. End of.
To be honest I would be that bothered if Andy left. He’s over rated. All he does is run around and kick people which we seem to like as it shows ‘passion’. I’ll do that for way less! Young Nile is streets ahead of him.
He is also arrogant and like to slap woman!
(yes, i am a season ticket holder!)
God there are some morons who post on here! slap woman! shut up!
The lad is young he will be one of the best strikers in the PL in a few seasons, there are very few of his type playing today! hes strong, capable, robust and Sheareesque in his approach, he is miles ahead of Nile Ranger! Mark my words Hughton wont let him go!
Excellent use of the word “robust” Dave mate LOL
If Roy’s reported interest is true, I take it that there is no hope to be had for David Elm?
the slap a woman is a FACT!!! He was arrested in the Big market! I would prefer not to have that type at the club! If i wanted that i’d rather have Bellamy!
He will never be sheareresque! People only like him as he is a ‘local lad’ He will never be PL quality. Well maybe low level PL quality.
I don’t feel the need to compare him to Ranger as they aren’t the same type of player. No idea how a few starts and sub showings from Ranger make him superior – he looks good but has yet to even score a goal?!
NickW – I’m pretty sure Elm will be on his way come the end of the year. If he was to have had a chance it would be coming around now (at least the league games), when we’ve been short of strikers. I have no idea whether this reported interest in Carroll is even genuine but I’m enjoying the thoughts of our friends from Newcastle.
i like him he is big strong and determined and has potential hopefully he willcstay but i feel nile will be even better
