Danny Murphy says he would like to become a manager once he has finished his playing career but says he remains fully focussed on winning games with Fulham.

The former England international midfielder has already started studying for his coaching badges but insists he would much rather be ‘playing than coaching’ at the moment.

In an ideal world, of course I’d love to go into the coaching side of it, but I think I’ve got a few more years left to play. I’ve started the ball rolling on my badges, and I’m moving forward with that.

But I don’t want to get too preoccupied because it can take your focus off playing, even though it is an area I’d like to delve into in the future. I’ve got to make sure I prioritise myself for playing every week because, at the moment, every manager and coach will tell you they’d rather be playing than coaching, and I’m still the same.
