The World Cup seedings are out. Only FIFA could shroud the process in such secrecy.
Pot 1 (seeds): South Africa, Brazil, Spain, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Argentina, England
Pot 2 (Asia, Oceania and North/Central America): Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Australia, New Zealand, United States, Mexico, Honduras
Pot 3 (Africa and South America): Ivory Coast, Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria, Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay
Pot 4 (Europe): France, Portugal, Slovenia, Switzerland, Greece, Serbia, Denmark, Slovakia
Thinking aloud now:Â the worst possible draw for England on Friday would be something along the lines of – USA, Ivory Coast and Portugal. And I’d be happy with New Zealand, Uruguay and Switzerland. It’ll probably not be that cut and dried.
Since I know the U.S. will not win the world cup, in order to further develop our side, I wouldn’t mind a tough draw.
You see, depending on the draw I’d fancy the US to do quite well. They’ve got pedigree – reached the quarters in 2002 and played well in patches in Germany – and some good players. The way the USA have played over the last 18 months or so I’d say anything less than the quarters would be a failure for Bradley.
Eh, that’s a real stretch. The team has not been getting much stronger and is still recovering from the loss of McBride. It’ll probably be a tough ask for them to escape their group.
